Sunday Weather Forecast, Earthquakes, and Volcanic Eruptions

HRRR Precipitation model

Good morning. Here is the Sunday weather forecast, but first, our current weather conditions. I hope everyone has had a great weekend. We had some rain over the past 24 hours. It measured at 0.08 inches of rain. The temperature was at 32° F this morning at 6 am. It is now 30° F. Skies are cloudy, and winds are calm as I look out at the windmill in our backyard. The most breeze we have dealt with is nine miles per hour out of the WSW. Pressure is sitting at 29.91 inches of mercury.

Current Weather

Here is the latest Sunday weather forecast. I was looking at the HRRR Precipitation type. I see a small low-pressure system that will be moving through the area. It will bring some possible rain. The pressure will dip to about 29.70 inches of mercury by 8 pm this evening. We may get a few sprinkles or two in the evening, but our chances will increase by midnight tonight into Monday.

The coronal hole is on its way to the eastern hemisphere, and so far, it has produced an earthquake in the Philippines at 7.6 and a volcanic eruption of Mount Etna in Europe.

Sunspot activity has declined since my last post about this on November 26th.

Space weather for Sunday weather forecast.
Space Weather Live Sunspot Count

Lots of exciting events have occurred from our active sun. I don’t downplay that people got hurt from a 7.6 magnitude earthquake. I prayed yesterday for quick recovery and safety in the Philippines. The sun has a tremendous impact on our planet’s environment and weather. Just like the sun is a type of Christ in the Bible, which affects our climate, God controls our temperature and environment, and it is God that provides the signs from heaven to reveal the events. That is about it. Take care. MP

Sunday Forecast and Significant Amount of Sunspots for November 26, 2023

Good morning. Here is the Sunday Forecast, but first, the measurements and current weather. I am ready for the summer now—enough of this white stuff. I walked out to get the Stratus and get measurements. We ended with 2.4 inches of snow with a liquid equivalent of .27 inches. That makes the ratio 8.9 inches of snow to 1 inch of liquid. The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) was off by about an inch. God said, “Here is a little more to grow on.” He is in control. The WPC is still a more accurate source than the snow amounts for others.

The current temperature is 25° F. Skies are mostly cloudy, and winds are three miles per hour out of the northwest. The relative humidity is at 92%. The barometric pressure is at 29.83 inches of mercury. The radar is pretty clear, and the atmosphere is pretty dry now.

Here is the Sunday Forecast for today. We will hit a high of 36° F, give or take, by 3 pm. It will be a bit breezy today, with wind gusts peaking at about 27-28 miles per hour by noon today. Winds should begin to calm down at about 6 pm tonight.

Lots of activity on the sun’s surface. There are still lots of sunspots. The sun is trying to hold on to that solar maximum before it goes back to sleep and becomes dormant again.

That is all I have to talk about today. Take care. MP

Winter Weather Update | How much snow will we get?

Winter weather update from WPC map

Good morning. Here is the latest winter weather update. I was looking at the latest models. The start time is about 2 pm for rain, and shifts to snow by 5 pm. The Weather Prediction Center still shows a mix as this system moves through the area. The snow probability of one inch or greater has shifted to about 40-50% for the Blue Springs Area, and 60-70% of snow amounts to 1 inch and greater for Independence and Kansas City. With snow amounts of 2 inches and greater, the percentage drops substantially for all areas, so I would not count on more than an inch of accumulation, if any.

WPC Weather Map
WPC Weather Map

Precipitation amounts for the HRRR show too much snow. It sits at 1.8 inches of snow by 10 pm, and the NAM shows snow amounts that are way too much at 4 inches plus. The reason why I don’t subscribe to those is because of the Weather Prediction Center. Don’t hold your breath for an accumulation of 4 inches, or even one inch for that matter, for Blue Springs.

The current temperature is about 26° F. The HRRR models show a high of almost 39° F, give or take, by 1 pm. After that, the temperature will begin to fall, and it looks to hover around 33° F by evening.

That is about it for today. If anything else changes, I will likely post it on Facebook directly. Take care. MP

The temperature is at 38.4° and falling. The pressure is at 30.17 inches of mercury and steady.

I am looking at the light intensity chart over the past 31 days. We are still on a trending decline. What does this mean? It means we will continue to get colder.

Today’s Forecast. We may reach about 65° today; the dew point will only reach to about 40° by 6 pm. Winds may peak at about 19 to 20 mph or 17 knots by noon today.

According to Space Weather Live, the sun is still pretty sparse when it comes to sunspots. We do have a sunspot (3486) that popped up in the mid-part of the sun. Still do not see anything from the left. Sunspots look to be down from yesterday’s post of 6 sunspots. We only have 5 currently.

That is about it for the Sunday forecast today. Looks to be pretty uneventful from the weather.

Conclusion

It looks like the weather this weekend for Blue Springs will be decent, especially for Sunday night’s Super Bowl. I will continue to monitor our conditions. Hopefully, those who have issues with pressure changes will be able to handle the high pressure of today. If anything changes, I will reach out on Facebook or Twitter. Take care of yourselves and be safe this Sunday. My prediction for the game this Sunday is still a win in overtime for the Kansas City Chiefs. Go Chiefs! MP

Blue Springs Weather Short

Blue Springs got about 1.1 inches of total precipitation this morning at about 6am since 6am yesterday. Wet Snow continues to fall in the Jackson County area. Some areas of the County may see an inch or more.

Road Conditions

Roads are slushy and slick. If you do not have good tread on your tires, you need to slow it down. Especially around those curvy roads! You can easily hydroplane as well. So please be careful.

Roads are slushy and with the rain it accumulates on the roads. Be careful.

Conclusion

The system should be out of the area by 9am this morning. We will hit a temperature of 42 by 2 pm today and quickly melt. We should be able to get home without any issues. Winds will be gusting about 23 mph. we may see a short bout of sunlight between noon and about 2pm then shift back to overcast. That is about it. MP

Ice Ice Baby – Possible Significant Impact

I put ice twice in the title because we may have a possibility of two rounds of ice over a week and a half time frame. It has been a while since we have dealt with any ice. We will talk about that shortly. Here is our current Blue Springs Weather. As of 7:50 pm, the temperature is at 30.2°. Pressure is sitting at 30.02 inches and steady. Winds are out of the NNW at 9 mph. The relative humidity is at 81%. The dew point is at 27°. The skies are hazy.

Cold and Breezy

Make sure you dress for the environment tomorrow. The winds will be about 15 mph tomorrow, right at kick-off.

HRRR Wind Gusts 5 pm.

Conclusion

Tomorrow evening we will be getting it. If you are coming up from the South from the Adrian area and 49 highway, you will be dealing with some tomorrow morning around 8 am. Jackson County will be dealing with ice tomorrow night with a start time of 7 pm and will move north, where the rest of the county will be covered by 8 pm. Tomorrow temperature will be around 22° give or take, by 4 pm.

In the second round, if it holds out, is on Wednesday February 8th and it may be more debilitating. The Ice accumulation amounts may be as high as 0.21 inches for Jackson County. That is enough ice to cause serious driving issues, fallen trees, and power outages. Keep in mind that this particular time is a week and a half out, and it will have plenty of time to change.

That is pretty much it for today. Take care, everyone, and be safe tomorrow. MP.

Winter Storm Round Two Tuesday Evening

Ready for round two? Here is the latest forecast for tomorrow’s Blue Springs Weather and Jackson County and its impact. Here is the breakdown.

Forecast

6 am Tuesday, System arrives with rain and temperature at 38 degrees.
11 pm Tuesday Rain shifts to snow. Some snow may be heavy.
The system leaves the area by 7 am Wednesday.

Liquid precipitation amounts are not much and look to be about 0.26 inches of precipitation.

Snow amounts for the HRRR models are a little over 1 inch for Jackson County and the Blue Springs area. The Weather Prediction Center shows a 10 to 40% chance of snow accumulations of 4 inches and higher. Don’t hold your breath. There is a 50-60% chance of snow accumulations of 2 inches or greater; for 1 inch or greater, we are at an 80-90% chance. So with those numbers, we are guaranteed 1 inch of snow and maybe a little more. I am sure these models will change again by tomorrow, and if they do, I will reach out again.

Conclusion

The impact will be minor to moderate, depending on the part of Jackson County you live in. The Downtown area is moderate.

That is pretty much it for today.

Significant Winter Weather Change Round Three

Good morning, It looks like our accumulation of snow has moved far north along the edge of our county. According to the Weather Prediction Center the snow has completely shifted to a mix for Saturday and if there is any accumulation it may be around vegetation, but with what the WPC showing , don’t hold your breath on anything hindering driving unless you live along the northern edge of Jackson County.

WPC National Forecast Chart

Today’s high will only be 36 degrees give or take by 3pm today. Take care.
