October 20th 2019 Forecast

Good morning Blue Springs! It is a beautiful morning. Cuz I went out to check the rain gauge, I looked to the skies. Wow those stars are bright in that clear sky! If some of you don’t have anything to do, go out and purchase a cheap bag of dog food, and head out to dogtoberfest. Hundreds of dogs and their owners walking around, with neat events and vendors. My family and I try and go to it every year. You can find the details on Facebook just dogtoberfest 2019. It starts about noon.

MODEL DISCUSSUSION

Looking at models today, start time for this evenings weather will be around 7pm for Jackson County and about 10pm or so for Blue Springs. Looks like it may start off as a Trace and then increase from there. In time will be about 4am Monday maybe a little after for the major part of the rain. It may missed or sprinkle after that for a short time. Thursday October 24th is going to be a very wet day. This system will start off as Trace rain by 10pm on Wednesday, then increase as the hours progress. Stop time will be around 10pm Thursday evening give or take. I’ll have more details about that as we progressed through the week. That snow I was talking about yesterday has been removed from the forecast at this time. That does not mean that it won’t come back through the models. We will just have to keep an eye on it as the days progress. As for October 30th and 31st, that too will be a wet day through the evening hours of Halloween. Snow has been removed at this time, but it is still too early to tell. Currently it shows snow in Kansas west of Johnson County.

That is pretty much it for today. Have a have a wonderful day at worship if that’s what you do, if not, enjoy your day! God bless you.

October 19th Forecast

Good morning Blue Springs! Not sure what was going on last night. All of a sudden this page was not available under my pages manager app, but I could get to it through the web. I got up this morning and still was not able to get to it through my app on my phone. I had to actually reboot my phone just to get just page back on my app. It was the weirdest thing. Anyway, enough of that.

MODEL DISCUSSION

Looking at models, rain is currently approaching, and should be here in the next half hour or so. Rain should stop or be on its way out by about 11 this morning. The smaller system on Sunday should be here around 4 or 5pm. It should be on its way out after 1am Monday morning. Another system will be in our area on Thursday October 24th around 10am.There’s another system on Monday October 28th after noon or so. This is the system to watch. As a currently shows 4 inches of snow in our area by 7pm! It is kind of funny though, how these models are acting, the newest run shows nothing! This is one day that has peaked my interest to definately watch! Imagine snow on the ground on Halloween!

October 10th 2019 Forecast

Good morning Blue Springs! Happy Thursday. It is a little wet currently. We are in a break area and the rain will be starting back up here soon hopefully after 6 a.m. because I don’t want to have to go out and measure another round of precipitation for my morning post for the National Weather Service. Don’t let this warm weather fool you, by 4pm, temperatures will drop from 69 and really start tanking after dark. It will be about 39 degrees or so by 5am Friday. Temperatures will only reach up into the upper to mid 40s. Friday evening into Saturday reaching low 30s by 7am.

CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK

Today’s convective Outlook, shows most of Jackson County under a marginal chance of severe weather. The southeast corner will be under a slight chance severe weather. Day 2 and day 3 have no chance of severe or non severe weather.

MODEL DISCUSSION

Today’s models show rain throughout the day today off and on. Systems should move out by 4pm tonight. Interesting to note, looks like Kansas make it a little bit of snow. I don’t think this system will be long-lived enough to reach into Jackson County, but it is something to watch. It is still about a day or two out. Pretty sure it will change quite a bit as we approach Friday.

That is pretty much it for today. Have a safe have a safe trip to work. You may. You may want a light jacket for tonight for tonight. Be safe driving home.

Warm, Cold, Rain, Snow in The Same Week!

The past few days have been quite the interesting events. We ended up with about 8.9 inches of snowfall on Friday/Saturday this past weekend. It was a difficult prediction even for a weather enthusiast like myself, but I will have to admit that this past storm was pretty impressive! Our atmosphere was saturated with moisture and caused big fat snow to fall and to accumulate on our trees and power lines. This became a problem for us as the weight of the snow would cause tree limbs and entire trees to fall and a lot of people lost power. Some won’t have power back till Thursday. Just in time for another round of snow to accumulate in our area.

Water Vapor from 1/11/2019

Our next round of systems will be another interesting set up.

1. Tuesday will be mid to upper 40’s. but may not be able to be high enough to melt a whole lot of the snow. That is the system coming up from southwest.

2. Wednesday afternoon we have another 60% chance of precipitation and the temperature will barely be above freezing at 33 degrees. This will occur well into Thursday

3. Friday evening into Saturday is the next system. Starting off with rain at 38 degrees. The temperature will tank once this system starts and by Saturday morning at about 1am the rain will transition to snow stopping about noon or a little after. Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the weekend and by 8am Sunday will be at -4 degrees if everything plays out. Temperatures will climb back up to the 30s by Monday afternoon.

I will keep an eye on this system and the models as the week progresses and will update with any changes that may occur. If you end up going to the Chief’s game make sure you bundle up in layers to keep warm! GO CHIEFS!
